What is port kuantan?

Port Kuantan is a multi-purpose port located in Kuantan, Pahang state of Malaysia. It is the East Coast's busiest port as it handles a wide range of products such as liquified natural gas, petroleum, palm oil, steel products, timber, and general cargo.

The port serves ships from Asia, the Middle East, and the West Coast of Australia and is operated by Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between the port's management and the state-owned company of Malaysia.

Port Kuantan has a total handling capacity of over 25 million metric tonnes per year, making it one of the largest ports in Malaysia. It has two terminals: the Kuantan Multipurpose Terminal and the Gebeng Multipurpose Terminal. The Kuantan Multipurpose Terminal is equipped with two berths with a maximum draft of 13 meters while the Gebeng Multipurpose Terminal has two berths with a maximum draft of 8.5 meters.

In recent years, Port Kuantan has undergone significant development to enhance its capacity and efficiency. This includes the construction of new berths, the installation of automated systems for cargo handling, the construction of a new warehouse and upgrading of the port's IT systems. The port is also committed to maintaining an eco-friendly environment by implementing green technology and minimizing its carbon footprint.
